"How wonderful it is that that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world". Anne Frank
Starting a nonprofit can be daunting. The paperwork, form 501(c)3 alone can be intimidating.
Before tackling the federal government forms, it's important to get incorporated in your state first. Every state has different rules for incorporation so you simply need only to search your state and their procedures for incorporating. This step is usually pretty simple and straight forward. Not all states require completing a complicated form. Try to complete the form yourself and remember that we are here to help if you get hung up.
In addition, you can move onto the 501(c)3 as soon as you complete your state's requirements for incorporation. There is an EZ form that can be completed to get approval from the federal government but we advise against using it because it doesn't necessarily lives up to its name by being easy to complete.
