“Alone we can do little; together we can do so much”. Helen Keller
Once the legal formalities are complete, you are organized, have bylaws and procedures in place, the next step is to set goals. Working as a board of directors, set goals. We suggest no more than three goals and make sure they each contain these three elements:
1. Desired end result
2. Budget
3. Deadline
Example of setting a single goal:
Fundraising goal:
· Raise $5,000 by hosting a series of spaghetti dinners
· Budget: $200
· Deadline: December 31, 2024
Seeing the goal on paper, makes it more real and can be inspiring and motivational. This first step leads to brainstorming tasks and who will take on which task.
Want to recruit volunteers? Define that goal and get it on paper. Raise money? Define that and get it on paper. Serve a specific number of people? Define it and get it on paper.
Set those goals. You can do it!
